Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2025 (AFAID25), Officially Opens Today (Day 1)

Jakarta — Friday, June 6, 2025 — Anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture fans, get ready! The ninth edition of Anime Festival Asia Indonesia (AFAID25), the biggest ACG event in Southeast Asia, officially kicked off today at Jakarta Convention Center Hall A and will run through Sunday, June 8, 2025. After more than a decade as a regional pop culture phenomenon, AFAID returns to deliver an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.

Since its inception in 2008, Anime Festival Asia (AFA) has hosted over 30 events in six different cities, featuring more than 520 performers and drawing over 2.3 million enthusiastic visitors. This year, AFAID25 transforms the JCC into the beating heart of Japanese culture in Indonesia with a diverse lineup including cosplay, comic exhibitions, e-sports tournaments, and live anisong concerts directly from Japan.

The event officially opened at 11:00 AM WIB, with the main exhibition zone boasting over 100 booths from major Japanese companies, animation studios, and local and international creators. Visitors can hunt for exclusive merchandise, cosplay accessories, and unique fan-art pieces.

Shaw Chin, Managing Director of SOZO, shared, “We are thrilled by the incredible enthusiasm from attendees on the first day of AFAID25. The presence of thousands of anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture fans shows that the ACG spirit in Indonesia is growing rapidly. And this is just the beginning — the coming days will be even more exciting!”

AFAID25 turns Jakarta Convention Center into a vibrant hub for anime, manga, games, music, and broader Japanese cultural experiences.

The event typically features three main entertainment zones:

Akiba Town, a bustling exhibition area filled with major Japanese companies and up-and-coming creators;

Day Stage, offering engaging live talk shows and exclusive screenings with favorite artists;

Night Concerts, showcasing spectacular live performances by top J-pop and anisong artists flown in from Japan.

Shion Wakayama — Known for roles like Aoi Aioi in Her Blue Sky, Takina Inoue in Lycoris Recoil, Asahi Amagami in Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister, Momo Ayase in DAN DA DAN, and many more.

Kazuki Ura — Lead role as Shiki Ichinose in TOUGEN ANKI, plus notable characters like Yoichi Isagi in Blue Lock, Luke Braveheart in Zenshu, and Kizuki Hazawa in Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You.

  Just this May 30-31, Okada was graced by some of the most shining stars on the internet and in the realm of music in recent years, thanks to the &Friends Music and Pop Culture Festival! The 2-day event was a vibrant venue for unstoppable fun. Booths carrying fan merch for favorite games and anime titles lined up the lobby, displaying great work by independent artists for sale.
